The "O'Reilly" Factor

Redstate.org, continuing the post-modernization of the American right-wing, deconstructs the state of right-wing idiocy into its base elements:

DST was supposedly to benefit farmers, but farmers don't want it. It was supposed to cause more daylight, yet daylight is not really controlled by Congress. If Congress really wants to benefit the American worker, how about setting fall back to Monday morning at 8 and spring forward to Friday afternoon at 4. Otherwise, Congress should stay out Father Time's business and get on with enacting sound energy policies that include drilling in ANWR.

There are certain types of self-important stupidity that just leave me with no adequate response. I'm not going to spell out the reasons for Daylight Savings Time, but you can read about the origins, rationale, and benefits here. But seriously, folks, these are the people we're losing elections to.
