Aftershocks

More bombings in London today. From the sound of it, my first take is that these guys were amateur militants. The execution was so shoddy, and the damage so minor, I'm betting they were entirely freelance - no Al Qaeda connection at all.

Let's hope this isn't the start of a trend.

Why so quick to dismiss Al Queda? I don't think anything can be ruled out these days...

True, nothing can be ruled out. I'm firing from the hip here, and I may very well be wrong. But my instinct tells me that this was too inept to be an operation by anybody but amateurs.

If you look at New York 9/11, Madrid 3/11, and London 7/7 you see Al Qaeda in action. Daring, methodical, mass casualties. This had some of the basic skeleton - it closely mimicked the previous London bombing - but the execution was dismal. Despite detonating four bombs at four locations, I don't think even one person was killed.
